Hello all,

We are very excited to announce the hiring of Tiny Randazzo to our staff as our new Age Group 3 coach. At the same time I am very excited to announce that Miles will be taking over the senior group. He will continue to help out where needed and assist Tiny with the transition. One of my strong beliefs is that all coaches be involved with as many groups as possible to insure that we are all coaching with the same philosophies. This is very exciting as we continue to move forward and grow our team.

Tiny has been involved with the sport in New Jersey for more than four decades, including her earliest years swimming under the direction of former Olympic coach Frank Elm with Central Jersey Aquatic Club. She attended the 1972 Olympic Trials in the 100 meter backstroke and swam for the male programs at both Westfield High School and Rutgers University.

When the Scarlet Knights began a women’s swimming and diving team in 1974, Randazzo brought the program instant credibility. She captained the team for three years and helped Rutgers to a trio of undefeated seasons. She was a five-time Eastern AIAW champion and earned All-America honors in five events, including both the 50 and 100 back. Her achievements were recognized by the New Jersey General Assembly in 1977, and she was inducted into the Rutgers Sports Hall of Fame in 1997.

She has coached the sport at both the club and collegiate level, including a brief stint with both the Rutgers men’s and women’s teams following her graduation. The majority of her coaching experience came with both the Fanwood Scotch-Plains YMCA and the Somerset Hills YMCA; she has been with the latter since 2003. During the 2010-11 season she served as the Volunteer Asst for the Princeton Women’s Swim Team.

Tiny has also served the New Jersey Swimming Board of Directors since 2004 as Records Chair, Top 10 Chair Senior Coaches Rep and an At Large delegate.

This I believe gives us one of the best staffs in the state. We will be also hiring a part time college student to help on some nights. With this hiring our staff will now look like this:

Senior coaches – Miles (assisted by Ansie)
Junior coaches – Rob (assisted by Carolina and Luis)
Age group 3 – Tiny (assisted by Miles and Luis)
Age group 1 and 2 – Carolina (assisted by Ansie)

Luis Nicolao
